WOODEN WOODS / my small contribution for "Artists Saving Forests”- the initiative of Eglė Plytnikaitė.
You can get a digital version of this artwork and many works by other artists for a small symbolic donation. Works can be printed on preferred canvas or paper. All funds will go to mind blowing "Ancient Woods Foundation” @sengiresfondas started as a result of Mindaugas Survila movie "The Ancient Woods" filmed in one of the last remaining patches of old growth forest in Lithuania, to literally buy the land of forests with the goal to restore natural uncontrolled forest territories in Lithuania.
I listened to Erik Satie - Gymnopedie no.1 while drawing this illustration and it's mood resonates in some way with the theme of environmental protection, which is beautiful and sad at the same time. I'd say this work is about the fragility of nature and forests being a source of wood material, simultaneously a home of vanishing species and also the humans - cutting the branch they are sitting on.
